How to introduce Lunette to your friends?

When introducing Lunette for the first time, do it gently. Many women have never discussed their periods with someone, even with their best friends. Periods have often been regarded as a shameful, negative thing for a long time – and one should not talk about these things.

Tell about Lunette to your friendsWe think – and probably you too – that it is time to change this! Menstruation is a natural part of every women´s life. We shouldn´t be ashamed of our own bodies or pretend that we are an exception to the rule. At this very moment, a quarter of women in the world are menstruating. Can it get more natural than that?

Open discussion about periods and different alternatives in menstrual products will help us women defeat these centuries old customs and beliefs. But always keep in mind that a menstrual cup is not necessarily for every woman - it is still a matter of choice. So you shouldn´t let the ”oh-my-God!”s and ”yuk, never!”s get you down. Most women still appreciate that you have told them about the alternatives, even though they personally do not want to use it. Some just need time to process the idea.

Here are some important facts to point out when telling about the cup:

Size: Many women think that the cup must be HUGE! Remember to point out that the cup is made out of soft silicone and it is folded and when in place in the vagina, you don´t feel it.

Hygiene: Women often wonder if it is easy or complicated to clean the cup. Hygiene is very important but you should emphasize that in EU and other developed countries, our water is pure and our level of hygiene is very high. So it is very easy to clean the cup. When cleaning the cup in more challenging conditions, please consult us if you are unsure how to advice your customer.

Don´t push it: Some women want to digest the information, especially if their initial reaction is negative. (So was ours and look at us now!) Approach this friend by giving her a brochure to look at first and tell her that you are happy to give her more information when she is ready. This is the best way. No one likes to be pushed – especially on a personal issue.

Be honest: Lunette doesn´t promise to make periods the most wonderful experience ever – just nicer. Tell your friends honestly about the problems they may face at first, but also about the positives. If you use the cup yourself, talk from experience.

Don´t do the guilt trip: “Good for the environment” is a big selling point when promoting the cup. It is important to us as well, BUT we do not want women to feel guilty if they are using disposable products. We want them to use the Lunette because it makes periods nicer – the “environmentally friendly” aspect is an extra benefit. Women have enough to worry about, so no guilt-tripping!

Spread the word of.... nicer periods!
